Oh, where have you been, my blue-eyed son?
Oh, where have you been, my darling young one?
I’ve stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains
I’ve walked and I’ve crawled on six crooked highways
I’ve stepped in the middle of seven sad forests
I’ve been out in front of a dozen dead oceans
I’ve been ten thousand miles in the mouth of a graveyard

Club rides still not cancelled. They just don’t seem to get it… I suppose I don’t either because I showed up. I only rode with them (well apart) for 3 minutes, because I wanted to celebrate the return to the saddle of the leader who has been out for some months recovering from surgery. It was good to see him back on the road. Unfortunate that it couldn’t be under less strange circumstances.

I quickly peeled off however, and did my own thing. I figure I need to get my climbing legs back so that’s exactly what I did today. Rode out to the east in a zigzag fashion going up and down all of the major hills, and reversed the order on the way back. 91km and over 1,100m in elevation gain. I felt pretty strong the whole way.

Mobility in the afternoon.

Pull-ups. GTG style.

Legs feel surprisingly good today. I went for a pretty decent recovery ride. About 40km and mostly flat. Was able to keep my heart rate in zone 1 or under for the full ride. I am still staying off the loop paths

In the afternoon I did my standard Simple & Sinister routine. 24kg for the swings. 16kg for the TGU’s, but I would do 2 per side before switching; trying to build up that time under tension prior to introducing the 24.

Got the news tonight that we are going on restricted movement tomorrow. When I read the executive order, it pretty much implied business as usual…

Grip Day, with some Evil Wheel GTG style thrown in for good measure.

Tuned into Steve House talking about K7 today. It is so very cool of him taking the time and sharing his experiences with us.

Simple and Sinister and a good long mobility session in the afternoon.

All probably negated by cookies and whiskey in the evening.

Pull-up day yet again. GTG.

The plan calls for today to be a riding day, but I think I am going to hold off until tomorrow.

Like clockwork; Simple and Sinister and Mobility in the afternoon.

Grip day.

Listened to Steve House and Scott Johnston talk about motivation. I was so motivated in fact, that I signed off of the webcast early and went for a ride. First ‘warm’ ride of the year really, at 29C. Windy as well; 20kph and always seemingly a headwind. I did 72km and 558m elevation gain, but it was way harder than I wanted it to be, and I was in Z3 over 50% of the time.

Feeling really light today. It’s a good feeling.

Simple and Sinister and Mobility rounded out the day

One of my old martial arts buddies sent me some good Jodo stuff, so I am continuing to try and self-relearn what little I ever had.

Went for a nice short hour long hike in the desert, before the sun got too high. All in all a most relaxing day.
