Empty your mind. Be formless, shapeless—like water.
If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup.
If you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle.
You put it into a teapot, it becomes the teapot.
Now, water can flow or it can crash.
Be water, my friend.

Water; It’s more than just the only medium for surfing and kayaking. In its frozen form it’s great for climbing and even for going into a glass of scotch.  And guess what?  Coffee is over 99% water, yep, good old H2O. However all water is not created equal, so water quality really is a big deal in making a good cup of coffee too. Depending upon where you live tap water may have minerals and chemicals and other nasty stuff in it that are hazardous to you and to the flavor  of your coffee. Things like mercury, copper, sulfur, lead and chlorine among others, are commonly in our tap water. Unless you have pure mountain spring at your disposal you will need to make other arrangements.

Even if you do have a mountain stream handy like this guy you might still need to filter your water before you make coffee from it.

It may not be cost effective to use bottled water, although one of my favourite coffee houses did that for some time before they acquired a fancy filter system. At home though water filtration is pretty easy, and a good way to ensure your water and coffee combine to give you the best cup of Joe possible.
